What Apparel Diary is
Apparel Diary is an independent knowledge site for people who work in apparel and textile manufacturing. It publishes practical articles and free calculators on industrial engineering, production planning, quality, costing, supply chain, maintenance and factory safety.
The site started publishing in 2026. It is written for industrial engineers, production and planning staff, quality teams, merchandisers, factory managers and students who want to understand how a garment factory is run and measured.
Why this site exists
Much of what a factory needs to know is passed on by word of mouth or kept in spreadsheets that nobody explains. Apparel Diary writes those methods down in plain language, with the formula, a worked example and the limits of the method, so a reader can check the numbers and use them.
What we publish
Articles. Methods, formulas, worked examples and checklists on subjects such as SMV and line balancing, AQL inspection, DHU, cutting room efficiency, dyeing, inventory policy and factory KPIs.
Calculators. Free tools for common factory calculations, for example AQL sampling plans, SMV and CM cost, line efficiency, fabric GSM and yarn count conversion. Each tool shows the formula it uses and the assumptions behind it. You can find them on the calculators page.
Everything on the site is free to read and use. You do not need an account.
Who is behind the site
Apparel Diary is owned, operated and edited by Salauddin Ahamed Sagar, an industrial and production engineer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Salauddin works as a Business Analyst at Apex Holdings Ltd and previously worked at Epyllion Group. His work covers ERP implementation, process optimization and standard operating procedures in the ready-made garment industry. You can read more on his contributor profile and on LinkedIn.
Apparel Diary is his personal project. It is not owned by, run on behalf of, or endorsed by his employer.
Every article carries the name of its author and links to that author's profile. All authors are listed on the contributors page.
Our editorial standards
An article should be specific enough that a practitioner can act on it.
It should say what assumptions a method depends on and where it stops working.
Figures, standards and regulations should be traceable to a source.
Articles must be the author's own work.
Registered authors submit articles through the author dashboard. Each submission goes into a review queue, where the editor approves it, asks for changes with a written note, or rejects it. Nothing a guest author submits becomes public without that review. The details are in the editorial guidelines.
Corrections
If you find an error in an article or a calculator, tell us through the contact page. When an error is confirmed, we correct the article and add a dated correction note.
How the site is funded
The site may show advertising to cover its running costs. Advertisers have no say in what is published and do not review articles. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored.
